The cage should feel like the game

Plenty of athletes look great in practice and tighten up in games — not because they lack talent, but because the game is the first place anything is ever on the line. We use this technology to close that gap: cage environments as close to game speed and game pressure as we can build, so the at-bats that count feel like something your athlete has already lived.

Game speed, not cage speed

Comfortable reps at comfortable speeds build comfortable-speed players. Simulated at-bats put game velocity and real decisions in front of your athlete every week — long before opening day does.

Pressure is a skill

Situational scoring turns cage work into competition: a count, a scenario, a consequence. Athletes who rehearse pressure stop being surprised by it — they compete and thrive when it counts.

Every rep leaves a record

The number is not the coaching

A readout can tell you the swing is slow. It can't tell you why, and it can't tell you what to do about it. At M4P the technology answers the what — the coach and the film answer the why and the what's next. Every metric feeds a written plan, or it's just noise.

Training technology FAQ

Why simulated at-bats instead of just regular cage reps?

Because comfort transfers. Most cage work happens at practice speed with nothing on the line, and then the athlete's first real test is a live at-bat that counts. We use HitTrax to run simulated game at-bats with situational scoring — game-speed pitching, runners, pressure — so competing in games feels like something your athlete has already done a hundred times. That's the whole point of the technology: make the cage feel like the game, so the game feels comfortable.

Does a young athlete really need all this technology?

No 10-year-old needs a spin-efficiency number — and we'd never pretend otherwise. What every athlete needs is coaching that's precise instead of guessed, and that's what the technology is for. With younger athletes we use it lightly: video so they can see what we're coaching, a velocity read for fun and a baseline. The depth scales up as the athlete does. The tools serve the coaching, at every age.

Is the technology an extra cost?

The technology is how we run training — sessions and assessments are priced as sessions and assessments, and the tools are simply part of how we coach them; there's no separate “tech access” product to buy. The one optional add-on is the biomechanics screening: a deeper frame-by-frame film breakdown you can add to any assessment for +$75. Current pricing is on the assessments page.

Do you use the same technology for softball?

Yes. Exit velocity, bat speed, launch angle, video, simulated at-bats — the tools measure softball swings the same way they measure baseball swings, and our softball athletes train with the same stack in the same building.

Do parents get to see the data?

That's half the reason we use it. Slow-motion and side-by-side video exist precisely so the athlete AND the parent can see what needs improvement and what right looks like — no translation required. And the numbers don't stay in an app: they land in the written evaluation, so you can read exactly where your athlete started and what moved.

What should my athlete's numbers be for their age?

It depends on age, level, and body — which is why we don't hand out one-size-fits-all targets. The number that matters most isn't your athlete's exit velo against a chart; it's their exit velo against their own baseline from eight weeks ago. We measure the baseline at the assessment, train against it, and re-test. Trend beats comparison.

What is 3D markerless motion capture?

Motion analysis that used to require a lab — reflective markers, a suit, special cameras. Uplift Capture does it with one or two iPhones or iPads and AI: it tracks 28 points on the body from ordinary video and builds a full 3D model of the swing or delivery, including the kinematic sequence. Nothing gets strapped to your athlete, and the output is a report a coach can act on, not a spreadsheet.
